Among issues addressed w/ substantial success under my EMS Council leadership have been:

1.       Optimizing Access to EMS: Improving Effectiveness of the 911 Network.  Council efforts have included

(a)     Inquiry into allocation of psychiatric emergencies in the Denver Metro community; and, in that connection,

(b)     Serving as sounding-board for other Denver-area mental health health institutions along with DGH.

2.       Analysis and advocacy recommending preservation of the present, two-tiered (Health and Hospitals + Fire Department) EMS response system, opposing perennially proposed redeployment of Health & Hospitals paramedics into the Fire Department.

3.       Advocating full Denver Dept. of Health and Hospitals (EMS Division) participation in designing and providing emergency medical service at the new Denver International Airport.

4.       Development of standardized procedures for responding to medical emergencies in high rise buildings. 

5.       Analysis of free-standing medical clinic practices to determine impacts, if any, on provision of emergency medical services. 

6.       Development of guidelines for EMS staffing at all large public, or City facility, gatherings.

7.       Study, and advocacy of proposed Colorado trauma system and state emergency medical services funding legislation

8.       Advocacy to Denver city government re acquisition and implementation of Enhanced 911 ("E-911") emergency services phone system.

9.       Advocacy -- to neighbors, and Denver licensing authorities -- of reopening the University Hospital EMS Helipad, to integrate University Hospital more fully into the Colorado Trauma Consortium.
